What the Houston designs show
A Saturn V standing on its launch tower, drawn in orange engraving, with a teal crescent moon and scattered stars behind it and desert scrub and cacti along the bottom.
Houston is where the flights were run from rather than launched, and where one of these rockets ended up lying down for visitors to walk past. Drawing it upright is a small piece of licence and an obviously deliberate one.
When people send one
Space centre visits with children, and the rodeo in late winter, which is bigger here than people outside Texas expect. Both are trips somebody at home wants a report from.
Because a lot of people here work in energy or medicine on rotations, a good number of cards are sent to somebody who is themselves away. A printed card waiting at an address is a better welcome home than a message that has already scrolled past.
